Most thistle varieties native to Europe and North America belong to the Cirsium genus, though there are some exceptions. Thistle varieties can vary wildly in colour and shape, anywhere from deep dusty purple to light grey or even green.
While not directly imitating a thistle blossom, Cirsium is a variegated - deeper dusty purples and greys with tiny bits of pinky-purple. I wanted it to evoke a thistle patch at dusk, when the shadows creep in and everything is washed with grey.
Dyed to order on fingering, DK, and mohair.
